Mission and Vision
The Department of Exceptional Student Services (ESS) of the Aurora Public Schools believes in high expectations that result in all students achieving their full potential. ESS partners with general education and families in providing access to the appropriate instruction and services in the least restrictive environment.
Together we provide:
- A safe environment for all children conducive for learning
- An environment that allows for taking risks with teaching and learning
- A plan that includes the family as an integral part of the educational process
- An educational program with life experiences that prepares students to become participating members of our diverse communities
- Technology that promotes independence in living and learning
- Professional development for all educators and families to develop common understandings of best practices and strategies for quality instruction
FACTS:
Exceptional Student Services (ESS) serves the needs of students with disabilities, according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the Colorado Exceptional Children’s Education Act.
- ESS serves students from 0-21 years of age through a continuum of services.
- ESS believes in high expectations that results in all students achieving their full potential.
- ESS partners with general education and families in providing the appropriate instruction and services in the least restrictive environment.
Mental Health Meeting
The final mental health team meeting will be on May 10, from 12:30-4:00. This meeting will be held in ESC 1, Rm 203, upstairs past the superintendent's office. Participants will be trained on the new EzEdMed documentatioin and Medicaid billing system.
Speech Language Meeting
This will be the final meeting for speech language pathologists this school year. We will be having a luncheon ($5.00 each) and wrapping up the school year. We meet in the PLCC.
Cross Cat. Professional Learning
Secondary Cross/Cat, FA, AN Professional Dev., 3:30-5:00 in the PLCC.
April SEAC Meeting
The Special Education Advisory Council will meet in the PLCC from 6:00-8:00 PM. April's meeting will focus on planning for SEAC for the 2011-12 school year.
